The Big 10 Special: S3OL (Twintelle)

S3OL (Twitter: @LegendOfS3OL) has quickly made a name for himself in the ARMS competitive scene. His Twintelle has proven time and again to be a force to be reckoned with and he is also pretty deadly with a few other characters as well. Check out this official Nintendo video featuring him putting in work at Insomnia61(see above) and once you're finished make sure to read our interview with him below.

Question 1

APC: Please tell us a little about yourself?

S: Hey guys! I’m a 20-year-old competitive ARMS player from the UK that goes by the tag: S3OL!

Question 2

APC: When would you say you fell in love with competitive fighting games/eSports?

S: I’ve always liked fighting games, but was put off due to the number of combos I’d inevitably have to learn. I will forever admire those that have the patience to do such things, aha.

Question 3

APC: What gaming achievement are you most proud of in your career so far?

S: Honestly, other than winning Insomnia61 and becoming the UK’s first ARMS champion, completing all of Big’s missions on Sonic Adventure… Actually, I think that was harder!

Shameless plug: https://www.gofundme.com/s3ol-in-evo! I’m trying to get to EVO, please share this around if you can! You don’t have to donate, but it would help immensely!

Question 4

APC: What was it about ARMS that made you decide to take it seriously on a competitive level?

S: Harkening back to the answer for question 2, the lack of combos for sure! Not having to learn anything shifts all of the focus to mind games and confusing your opponent, as well as having a solid neutral.

Question 5

APC: What made you pick your main over the other characters in the game?

S: Those in the community that have known me since the beginning will remember that I was known for my Spring Man, but I made the switch to Twintelle due to her all-around better movement and mixup options (also her blue skin is hella cool). I do still dabble in Spring from time to time though I also play Lola and a bit of Min in customs!

Question 6

APC: What is your favourite arm loadout & stage. (Please explain why)

S: Anything containing an ice and electric attributed ARM. Why, you may ask? It’s pretty self-explanatory: mixups for daaaays! (Shock-locking is so much fun too). My favourite stage would have to be either Sky Arena or DNA Lab. Sky because of the nice open space, and it’s interesting to find ways to escape the corner when an opponent is pressuring you. DNA for the simple fact that I find it really fun to maneuver around those test tubes! (Don’t judge)

Question 7

APC: Thoughts on custom vs standard arms for tournaments.

S: Ah, this argument… To be honest I’m not as fussed as most people, though I do feel customs are the way to go. Some characters are pretty bad when limited to defaults. Unviable? No, but definitely not ideal.

Question 8

APC: What advice would you give to someone just getting into the game?

S: Join the Discord definitely, it’s first thing I would say to anybody interested in ARMS. There’s only so much fun to be had when you’re not a part of the community at large. To be honest, if I hadn’t have joined the Discord, I wouldn’t still be playing this game.

Question 9

APC: What are your hopes for the future of ARMS?

S: Honestly, I’m not thinking that far ahead. We’re going through a rough patch right now and the community at large is working together so that ARMS actually has a future.

Question 10

APC: Where can people find out more about you?

S: Either on Twitter: @LegendOfS3OL or through Discord: S3OL#0203. See you around! ~
