We were lucky enough to catch up with Mileve for this week's TB10 which you can find after the page break!
APC: Please tell us a little about yourself?
M: I always get anxious talking about myself >.< Hoi, I’m Eve, but most know me by Mileve! I’ve been a big fan of video games for as long as I can remember. I’m not known for much, but I’m known for some for being a Kirby 64 speedrunner and more recently a competitive ARMS player. I normally don’t have much confidence in myself or my abilities so finding my way to where I am today has been quite the surprise!
Question 2
APC: When would you say you fell in love with competitive fighting games/eSports?
M: I’ve always had some love for fighting games since the first Smash brothers came out on the N64, and while I’ve enjoyed eSports, I never looked too into it beyond Smash. After finding my way into ARMS though, I’ve grown to be a lot more interested in them!
Question 3
APC: What gaming achievement are you most proud of in your career so far?
M: My biggest achievement to date in my career here has been reaching rank 172 in the ranked ladder of ARMS. To be honest, I honestly never expected to ever be close to even entering the top 200.
Question 4
APC: What was it about ARMS that made you decide to take it seriously on a competitive level?
M: I almost disliked ARMS soo much that I passed on it. During my time on the test-punch I started by trying with motion controls, as I was unaware there were other options. I despised it at the time, enough so I was inclined to skip the second half of the test-punch. After learning about standard controller methods I went for another go and ended up enjoying it! In the end, I made a small highlight video and left it to the youtube public to decide if it was worth getting. If it weren’t for the community being inviting and welcoming right from the start I would have never taken the first steps to taking this game seriously.

Question 5
APC: What made you pick your main over the other characters in the game?
M: I’m generally not one to prefer heavier characters in most games, but something about Mechanica just caught my eye. I loved her design and as I played her I loved how she played and haven’t looked back! [except for speedrunning, but that’s another story ;)]
Question 6
APC: What is your favourite arm loadout & stage. (Please explain why)
M: I’m a big fan of Revolver/Whammer! The pressure and power of the Revolver coupled with the strong defences of the Whammer help make many matches I may fear into delicious victories!
As for stage, it changes a lot but my general top is Ribbon Ring. I love the large size of it and the thicker blocks can allow for a lot more strategies!
Question 7
APC: Thoughts on custom vs standard arms for tournaments.
M: I’m a default player currently, but I feel customs are very important for the growth of the game. With only defaults I fear things would become far too predictable and generic too quickly and wouldn’t be able to grow into the masterpiece it deserves to be seen as.
Question 8
APC: What advice would you give to someone just getting into the game?
M: Don’t get too focused on rank (it’s merely a number in the end). It’s more important to think about each fight individually and what happened and how you might be able to work around that next time.
Question 9
APC: What are your hopes for the future of ARMS?
M: Balancing aside, I would love to see it continue it’s path of growth and slowly become a healthy eSport that can give players something that can financially support and reward those who choose to invest in it.
Question 10
APC: Where can people find out more about you?
M: You can find me on twitch, facebook, and speedrun.com as Mileve, and on Twitter @MileveIt!
You can also find me on my discord channel here!
